Trained in the school of that conqueror, their unceasing enterprise left scarcely any interval of repose, during which our attention might be directed to those nations celebrated in history, which fell not indeed within the limits of the Macedonian empire, but whose transactions derive connexion and unity from those of the western Greeks, a commercial and seafaring, as well as an ambitious and warlike people.
