Mystery bookstore owner TRICIA MILES, and her sister ANGELICA, have an appointment to bid on books at an estate sale, but Angelica can't seem to get her act together, thanks to BETSY DITTMEYER, the Chamber of Commerce's receptionist. Since Angelica won the Chamber's election some three months before, Betsy has been a thorn in her side, especially since the Chamber lost their lease and had to relocate their offices to Angelica's storeroom. Angelica's assistant, FRANNIE MAE ARMSTRONG, arrives for work. She once held Betsy's job, and takes great delight in teasing the woman. Betsy heads upstairs to begin her work day, and Tricia and the others hear her taking out her anger and frustration by slamming doors, and knocking furniture around.
